Sally Obermeder, 53, Stuns with Dramatic Parisian Bob Hair Transformation
Sally Obermeder's Dramatic New Parisian Bob Haircut

Australian television personality and reality star Sally Obermeder has debuted a stunning and dramatic new hairstyle, leaving her social media followers in awe. The 53-year-old star of The Real Housewives of Sydney took to Instagram on Monday to reveal a complete hair transformation, swapping her signature long, dark tresses for a chic, chin-length bob.

A 'Dramatic' Decision for a New Look

Obermeder visited her trusted hairdresser, James Banks, this week with a clear mission for change. Typically known for her longer hair, she explicitly asked for something "completely different" and "dramatic." In a video shared from the salon chair, she indicated two potential lengths—one at her shoulders and another at her chin—leaving the final decision in the hands of her stylist.

James Banks enthusiastically talked her into going for the more radical option, opting for the shorter, chin-length cut. He described the vision as a sophisticated "Parisian" look, complementing the new shape with a lighter hair colour to complete the transformation.

Reveal and Reaction to the Chic Bob

The results clearly delighted the former Today Tonight and The Morning Show host. When James unveiled the finished style, Sally's reaction was one of pure joy. "Wow! Oh my god, I love it more than I thought I would. You nailed it," she exclaimed with a broad smile.

Her stylist responded with a playful joke, noting, "Well, my husband's overseas so at least I nailed something." The gallery of photos and video posted to her Instagram account showcased the sleek, modern bob, marking a significant departure from her previous appearance.

A History of Transformations and a Focus on Wellness

This isn't the first time Sally Obermeder has switched up her style. Her last notable transformation was in August of last year, when she temporarily traded a bob for very long hair extensions for the TV Week Logie Awards. For that event, she sported highlighted locks that cascaded down to her hips.

Rising to fame in the 2000s on Sydney Weekender, Obermeder left the Seven Network in 2020 before joining the cast of The Real Housewives of Sydney for its second season in 2023. In recent years, much of her focus has been on her successful wellness brand, SWIISH.

The inspiration for her business came from her own health battle; she was diagnosed with an aggressive stage-three breast cancer in October 2011 at 41 weeks pregnant, the day before she gave birth to her daughter Annabelle. She has since overcome the disease, and her journey continues to inform her work and public persona.
