Roman Kemp Vows Revenge on Dad Martin for I'm A Celeb Tweet
Roman Kemp vows revenge on dad for I'm A Celeb tweet

Roman Kemp has issued a light-hearted but firm warning to his father, music icon Martin Kemp, promising retribution for a social media post made during Roman's time in the I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! jungle.

The Jungle Confrontation

During a candid conversation on his podcast 'You About?' co-hosted with Tom Grennan, Roman, 32, confronted his 64-year-old dad about the incident. The One Show host recalled the moment he was selected by the public for a dreaded eating challenge in the 2019 series, where he ultimately finished in third place.

Roman revealed he initially believed the public had voted for him because he had done something to upset them. "I thought, 'Oh my God the public must hate you, that's why they're picking you to do these trials'," he explained on the podcast. The reality, he discovered upon leaving the jungle, was far more personal.

A Father's Prank Revealed

It transpired that his father, Martin Kemp of Spandau Ballet fame, had actively encouraged his own social media followers to make his son face a Bushtucker Trial. Roman specifically referenced a tweet from his dad that said, "I want to see my son eat kangaroo b*******."

In response to his son's accusation, Martin proudly admitted his role, stating, "I was the ringleader, to be honest with you." This confession has now set the stage for a playful family feud as Martin himself prepares to enter the Australian jungle for the 2025 series of the hit ITV show.

Following in Footsteps and Fears

Martin Kemp is now set to follow the path his son walked six years prior. In a heartfelt statement released after landing in Australia, the musician expressed that he would miss his family the most during his time on the show.

However, in a separate Instagram post announcing his participation, Martin showed he was already thinking about the friendly competition with his son. He wrote, "I'm heading into the jungle. People keep asking if I'm scared of snakes or spiders... The truth is, I'm more scared of Roman's face if I don't make it as far as he did."

While Martin faces the jungle, Roman is currently appearing on BBC One's Celebrity Race Across the World with his sister, Harleymoon Kemp. The duo is competing against other celebrities, travelling over 5,900km across Central America on a limited budget, with the show airing on Thursday November 13 at 8pm.
