A former worker of Rolf Harris has recalled some of his disturbing comments that exposed his true nature. The shamed entertainer's ex-promoter Chris Broson recently recalled a chilling conversation he had with Harris after he spotted two young girls walking home on the street.
Rolf Harris: A Predator Unmasked
Rolf Harris, who died in 2023, was once a TV legend who was uncovered to be a predatory paedophile. Following a trial in 2014, he was found guilty of a string of indecent assaults between 1968 and 1986, with some of his victims being only eight years old. Now further details of his vile behaviour have been uncovered as a former employee of the disgraced showbiz star has opened up about a chilling incident when Harris was being driven to his mansion in Maidenhead, Berkshire, before he had been caught for his near 20 years of crimes.
The Disturbing Comment
The new details have emerged from a documentary titled Rolf Harris: Primetime Predator, airing on ABC TV. In a clip from the documentary, Chris 'Bear' Broson recalled the moment he realised his boss' sexual interest in children. He said: "We were heading back from a show in London, and there were two schoolgirls walking along the road in Maidenhead. I'm just driving along and Rolf says, point blank, 'Jesus Christ, couldn't you just f*** the pair of them?'" Broson added: "As I'm sitting there, I'm hearing him say it, and I literally said 'What are you talking about? Really? What are you talking about, Rolf?' These are two little girls, man. When I've looked back on that, I think that that was Rolf testing water with me. To see 'if I can bring Bear on board with my s**t?'"
Harris's Crimes and Imprisonment
When Harris died at the age of 93 three years ago of neck cancer, he had never apologised to the people he had abused. He was sentenced to nearly six years in prison for his crimes. The disgraced star's shocking court case spanned two trials and led to more victims stepping forward to claim that Harris had assaulted them. A total of 11 convictions were upheld, while one was overturned on appeal. During his time in prison in 2016, Harris was charged in relation to seven unconnected historic allegations of indecent assault. However, three counts were cleared and a verdict was never given on the remaining four as the jury was discharged. It is reported that his fellow inmates at Bullingdon jail, near Oxford, nicknamed him Willy Wonka as he kept giving them chocolate bars. He was also said to hand out signed pictures and other confectionery during games of dominoes.
Release and Death
Harris only ended up serving three years of his sentence and was released on licence back to his multi-million pound mansion in Maidenhead, where he became a virtual recluse until his death. His home, where it was outlined in the court case that he carried out some of his sexual assaults, was finally sold last month at auction. While the highest bid did not reach its listed price of £1.95 million, the bidding did start at £1.4 million. Harris first bought the mansion in 1980 with his wife Alwen, who stood by him throughout the court case. However, their house fell into disrepair after his death in 2023, with Alwen also dying the following year.
Rolf Harris: Primetime Predator airs tonight on ABC TV.
