Ricky Gervais's £20m Fortune & 40-Year Love Story Revealed

Comedy icon Ricky Gervais, the mastermind behind era-defining shows like The Office and After Life, continues to dominate the entertainment landscape as he unveils his latest stand-up special on Netflix.

Mortality: Gervais's Latest Netflix Venture

Gervais's newest offering, the stand-up special titled Ricky Gervais: Mortality, landed on Netflix on 30 December. The performance, filmed at London's historic Palladium theatre, sees the comedian tackle subjects from life and death to the state of the world with his signature unflinching honesty.

Netflix's official description promises a "brutally honest special that spares no topic, even his own mortality." Reports from The Independent note that during the recording, Gervais took aim at what he called "middle-class" and "elitist" critics of his material.

This marks his fourth major special on the streaming giant, following Humanity (2018), SuperNature (2022), and Armageddon (2023). Looking ahead, Gervais is also developing a six-episode animated comedy series for Netflix called Alley Cats, scheduled for a 2026 premiere.

A 40-Year Partnership: Life with Jane Fallon

While never formally marrying, Ricky Gervais has been in a committed relationship with author and television producer Jane Fallon since 1982. The pair met at University College London and moved in together in 1984 after two years of dating.

In a 2020 interview, Fallon recalled their early lean years, stating they "went through a good few years when we had absolutely no money," even living above a brothel in King's Cross. She built a successful career in TV production on shows like This Life and Teachers before becoming a bestselling novelist in 2007 with Getting Rid of Matthew.

Gervais has explained their choice not to marry or have children, telling The Times in 2010, "We are married for all intents and purposes... But there's no point in us having an actual ceremony before the eyes of God because there is no God." Fallon echoed this sentiment to the Daily Mail, saying neither felt particularly fussed about a legal ceremony.

The Staggering Net Worth Behind the Laughs

Decades of success across television, stand-up tours, and production have amassed Gervais a considerable fortune. According to reports, his net worth stands at a staggering nearly £20 million.

His film production company, Red Lion 100 Ltd£19.8 million as of the end of March 2025. This represents a dramatic increase from its 2020 valuation of just over £7.4 million, more than doubling in five years.

Gervais and Fallon share an opulent home in the prestigious London neighbourhood of Hampstead, a property reportedly valued at around £14.5 million.

From his humble beginnings with Jane Fallon to his current status as a comedy heavyweight with a monumental net worth, Ricky Gervais's career remains a testament to his unique voice and relentless work ethic. Ricky Gervais: Mortality is available to stream now on Netflix.
