Gordon and Tana Ramsay Break Silence on 'Upsetting' Adam Peaty Family Row

Gordon Ramsay and his wife Tana have spoken out for the first time about the fallout with Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty's family, which led to Adam's parents being uninvited from the couple's wedding in December. The celebrity chef insisted they had 'done nothing wrong' and treated the Peatys 'like royalty'.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Gordon described the situation as 'upsetting' and said the negative press was 'self-inflicted' from the Peaty side. He revealed that the Ramsays had sent a chauffeur-driven car to bring Adam's parents to the engagement party and welcomed them warmly. 'So to get that barrage of press was very hurtful,' he added.

The rift became public after Adam's mother Caroline claimed her son was 'in Gordon's clutches' and that the Ramsays were 'insular'. However, Gordon explained that it was Adam and Holly's decision not to have his parents at the wedding, and the Ramsays respected that. 'There's stuff they need to sort out as parents. That's nothing to do with Tana and me,' he said.

Tana Ramsay, who has experienced family conflict herself—her father was jailed for hacking into Gordon's business systems—said fallouts have no winners and urged civility. 'You don't have to be best friends, but be civil. You can't be happy when there's a fallout going on,' she commented.

Adam and Holly married at Bath Abbey on December 27, with only Adam's sister Bethany attending as a bridesmaid. Gordon's emotional reaction to seeing Holly in her wedding dress went viral. He later joked that he cried partly because of the dress's cost, but also because of the emotional transformation of seeing his daughter as a bride.
