Adam Peaty's Parents 'Give Up Hope' After Gordon Ramsay's 'Dad' Comment
Peaty Family 'Give Up Hope' After Ramsay's Wedding Comment

The family of Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty have reportedly told friends they have 'given up hope' of mending their rift with their son, following a public comment from his new father-in-law, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.

A Public 'Dad' Comment Dashes Hopes

The latest blow came when Ramsay, 59, commented on a wedding video Adam shared on Instagram. In the clip, the gold medallist declared he would 'always choose' his new wife, Holly Ramsay. Gordon responded by writing: 'Beautiful words @adamramsaypeaty True Love ❤️ congratulations love you both so much Dad ❤️'.

This public use of the paternal title followed the already painful news that Adam had uninvited his own parents, Caroline and Mark Peaty, from his wedding day. An insider told The Sun: 'It's been a really emotional time for them as a family. They're coming to terms with what has happened and that Adam has picked his side.'

The source added that Ramsay's remark had 'dashed any hope of reconciliation in the near future', leaving the Peatys to 'keep their heads down and try to move on quietly'.

Wedding Speech Sparks Outrage

The couple's wedding was overshadowed by the family dispute, with Adam's mother barred from the service. His sister Bethany was the only family member from his side in attendance.

Reports indicate that during his father-of-the-bride speech, Gordon Ramsay made a pointed remark. After telling Adam he was a 'lucky man' and to look at his own wife Tana as an example of what to look forward to, he allegedly told Holly: 'Shame you don't have the same' – a perceived dig at Adam's absent parents.

Caroline Peaty was said to be 'outraged' and 'hurt' by the reference, with a family source telling the Daily Mail she believed the swipe was 'pre-planned', 'cruel' and 'very hurtful'. Gordon later defended his speech on ITV's This Morning, insisting it was 'perfect and warm'.

A Deepening Family Divide

The roots of the conflict trace back to September 2024, when Adam and Holly did not invite wider Peaty family members to their engagement party. Caroline, who supported Adam's early swimming career, was also not invited to Holly's hen do at Soho Farmhouse, which was attended by Victoria Beckham and Tana Ramsay.

In a further symbolic move, Holly revealed her parents paid for the couple's honeymoon to Mauritius as a wedding gift. Meanwhile, sitting at the family home in Staffordshire, Caroline told The Mail on Sunday: 'I'm not going to be hurt like this again', having previously said she felt as if the couple had 'cut my heart out'.

Moments before the ceremony, Adam's aunt Louise sent him a devastating text, obtained by the press, which read: 'I hope you never suffer the depth of pain you have put your mother through... Remember on this, your happiest day... that you hurt your mum so deeply her soul screams.'

With Gordon Ramsay's very public embrace of his 'dad' role and the Peaty family's reported loss of hope, the chasm within the Olympic champion's family appears wider than ever.
