Tyson Fury's wife, Paris, tragically lost their eighth child to a miscarriage just hours before his first fight against Oleksandr Usyk in May 2024. The boxing champion, who lost both bouts to Usyk, later revealed that Paris kept the heartbreaking news from him to avoid distracting him before the match.
Paris, 37, miscarried at six months while Tyson was in Saudi Arabia for the fight. She initially told him she could not join him due to high blood pressure, but Tyson suspected something was wrong. 'When she said she couldn't come over, I knew there was a problem,' he said. 'I asked her what was up, but she wouldn't tell me. I said to my brother, "She's lost that baby."'
Tyson described the ordeal as 'pretty s*****', noting that Paris had to 'physically give birth to a dead child, on your own, while your husband is in a foreign country.' He expressed regret at not being able to support her, saying, 'I could not be there for her in that moment. And that's tough for me.'
Despite the tragedy, Fury refused to use it as an excuse for his defeat. 'It's not an excuse – hell no. I am a man of honour. I do what I have to do when I am in there,' he said. 'Nothing outside the ring matters, there is no emotion. You think about all that stuff afterwards.'
The couple, who have seven children together, have not had any more children since the miscarriage. Their eldest daughter, Venezuela, recently married at age 16. Fury is next expected to have a warm-up bout before facing Anthony Joshua later this year.
