Millie Bobby Brown Marks 22nd Birthday with Husband Jake Bongiovi in New York City
Millie Bobby Brown was spotted celebrating her 22nd birthday alongside her husband, Jake Bongiovi, during a casual outing in New York City on Thursday. The Stranger Things actress, who recently adopted her first child with Bongiovi, flashed an occasionally awkward smile as the couple enjoyed their time together in the bustling metropolis.
Birthday Outfit and Style Details
Brown showcased a relaxed yet stylish ensemble for the occasion. She wore a black button-down leather jacket layered over a simple black top, which she tucked into baggy blue pinstriped jeans. Completing the look were black leather heeled boots, large black Christian Dior sunglasses, and gold hoop earrings. Her light brown hair was styled in a middle part, and she opted for minimal makeup to highlight her natural features.
Jake Bongiovi, the 23-year-old son of rock legend Jon Bon Jovi, complemented his wife's attire with a grey sweater over a white T-shirt, indigo washed jeans, white Maison Margiela sneakers, and designer sunglasses. The couple's adopted daughter, welcomed in the summer of 2025, was not present during this particular outing.
Family Life and Privacy Stance
In August of last year, Brown and Bongiovi announced via her main Instagram page that they had adopted their first child, a baby girl. Despite becoming more open about her roles as a wife and mother, Brown remains fiercely protective of her daughter's privacy. In an interview with British Vogue for its December issue, she emphasized her commitment to shielding her child's identity until the girl is old enough to make her own decisions.
"For me, it's really important to protect her and her story until she's old enough to potentially one day share it herself," Brown explained. "It's our job to protect her from that."
Name Change and Future Family Plans
Brown recently revealed that she has officially taken her husband's last name, now going by Millie Bonnie Bongiovi. This change was playfully highlighted during an interview with her Stranger Things co-star Noah Schnapp, who stumbled over her new moniker before she corrected him with a broad smile.
The couple, who married in May 2024 after years of discussing their dreams of parenthood, have both expressed a desire for a large family. Brown, one of four siblings, and Bongiovi, also from a family of four, see adoption as a natural part of building their household.
"I really want a big family," Brown shared with Vogue, noting that parenting duties are equally split. "We are 50-50 on everything… he is just the most amazing dad."
Reflections on Motherhood and Adoption
During an appearance on the Smartless podcast, hosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett, Brown reflected on her journey toward motherhood. She cited her mother, who had her first child at 21, and her grandmother as major influences, stating that starting a family has always been a personal priority.
"Since I was a baby... I wanted to be a mom just like the way my mom was to me," Brown explained. "Jake knows how important it is to me, and I want to focus on establishing myself as an actor and producer, but starting a family is huge for me personally."
She added that Bongiovi insisted on marriage before having children, while she emphasized her desire for a large family through both biological and adoptive means. "I don't see having your own child as really any different from adopting," Brown said. "Our home is full of love for anyone and anything. The door is always open, and we want everyone to feel really comfortable."
The couple's announcement of their adoption last summer read: "This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption. We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy."
