Michelle Pfeiffer Celebrates 32-Year Wedding Anniversary With David E. Kelley
Michelle Pfeiffer Marks 32 Years With David E. Kelley

Acclaimed actress Michelle Pfeiffer has publicly celebrated a significant personal milestone, marking 32 years of marriage to her husband, television writer and producer David E. Kelley.

A Romantic Instagram Tribute

Pfeiffer, 67, took to her Instagram account on Thursday to share the happy news with her 3.6 million followers. The Batman Returns star posted a candid, romantic photograph of the couple walking together, seemingly holding hands, outside the J.W. Heist Steakhouse in Bozeman, Montana.

Accompanying the intimate shot was a simple yet powerful caption from the actress: 'Lucky in love for 32 years.' Both Pfeiffer and Kelley were dressed stylishly in all-black ensembles of coats and trousers for their anniversary outing.

The location held professional significance for Pfeiffer, who has been in Montana frequently this year to film her new Taylor Sheridan series, The Madison.

Blind Date to Family Life

The couple's journey began in early 1993 when they were set up on a blind date. Pfeiffer has since revealed she was initially apprehensive, having sworn off blind dates after a few bad experiences. 'I was kind of nervous,' she told Jimmy Fallon in 2022, explaining that a plea from her best friend convinced her to meet 'this guy, David Kelley.'

Their relationship progressed under unique circumstances. At the time, Pfeiffer was in the process of adopting her daughter, Claudia Rose, who was just two months old when she came home with the actress and her new partner.

'We had this child with us right away, and most people don't have that,' Pfeiffer noted in a 2007 interview with Good Housekeeping. She credited this situation with allowing her to see Kelley's true character early on, stating it was a scenario that would 'separate the boys from the men.' She added, 'Obviously, he really rose to the occasion.'

Reflecting on their unconventional start, Pfeiffer described the timing as 'perfect', as it allowed them to see each other as parents before their relationship deepened, which she believes took the pressure off them as a couple.

Celebrity Well-Wishes and Lasting Legacy

The anniversary post was met with an outpouring of support from fans and famous friends alike. Among the well-wishers was fellow actress and long-time pal Rita Wilson, who herself celebrated 37 years of marriage to Tom Hanks earlier this year.

Wilson commented enthusiastically, 'Happy Anniversary!!! You’re both so lovely!!! Here’s to doubling that number!'

Pfeiffer and Kelley officially tied the knot on November 13, 1993. Kelley adopted Claudia during this period, and the family expanded in 1994 with the birth of their son, John Henry.

With a career spanning iconic films like Scarface and Dangerous Minds, Pfeiffer has often kept her personal life relatively private, making this public celebration of her enduring marriage a special glimpse into one of Hollywood's most successful long-term partnerships.
