Reality television personality Jessika Power has shared that her brother is fortunate to have survived a serious incident over the Christmas period, which has left him hospitalised.
Hospitalisation and Surgery Following Christmas Incident
Jessika Power, who rose to fame on the sixth series of Married At First Sight Australia in 2019, took to social media to inform her followers about her brother's condition. The 33-year-old posted a series of photographs showing her sibling, Rhyce, lying in a hospital bed connected to heart monitors and other medical equipment.
In an emotional caption accompanying the images, Jessika stated that her brother was "lucky to be alive" following the ordeal. Rhyce later used his own social media account to provide more details, explaining that he had suffered a broken scapula – the shoulder blade – and required surgery. One photo depicted him with a visible leg wound, while another showed him attempting to walk with the aid of a leg brace.
Family Heartache and Past Struggles
This is not the first time Jessika has spoken publicly about family trauma. Her father, Troy, passed away in August of last year. She posted a tribute at the time, writing: "…doesn’t feel real. We love you dad." The pair had a complex relationship, having been estranged for many years before reconnecting six years prior to her appearance on MAFS.
Jessika has also previously opened up about a difficult childhood, citing a fractured relationship with her mother. She described her mother selling stories to the press as one of the lowest points in her life, leading to a complete breakdown in their relationship which has lasted around seven years.
