Actress Lily Collins has delighted her followers by sharing a series of intimate photographs from her daughter Tove's first Christmas. The 36-year-old star, who welcomed her baby girl via surrogate earlier this year with husband Charlie McDowell, posted the festive snapshots on Instagram this Thursday.
A Festive Family Celebration
In the heartwarming collection, Lily is pictured sitting by a crackling log fire, watching her young daughter play with a new toy. Another adorable image shows the beaming mother holding Tove aloft for a Christmas Day selfie with film director Charlie.
The baby girl looked charming in a green and red dress featuring a gold star print. Further photos captured Tove opening gifts from a personalised red stocking and reading a children's book while wearing matching red pyjamas.
The post also included a loved-up snapshot of Lily with Charlie, a picture of a homemade wreath adorned with lush foliage, and several sweet images of their daughter at home. Collins captioned the festive photo dump: 'Our lil Tove's first Christmas and we're feeling all the magic of the holidays. Soaking in these moments in every way. Wishing you and yours the merriest Christmas and happiest holiday season...'
Juggling Motherhood and a Demanding Career
This festive reveal comes after Lily candidly discussed the challenges of being a new mother while filming the latest series of her hit Netflix show, Emily in Paris. The actress became a first-time parent in January when Tove was born via surrogacy.
Filming for the comedy-drama's fifth season commenced in May in Rome, before moving to Paris later in the summer. In a recent interview, Lily admitted she 'struggled' to balance her professional commitments with the demands of a newborn, stating she is just like any new parent in that regard.
She told The Sun: 'You have a different purpose and it's really tough... It's a struggle, and I'm just so grateful to be able to do both.' The daughter of musician Phil Collins added that she asked for understanding from colleagues this year, saying, 'I'm really good with memorisation, I'm really good with knowing my lines, but this year, give me some grace. I've not slept, I'm very tired, and I may not be on my game.'
What's Next for Emily in Paris?
The personal update arrives as Netflix released a first look at season five of Emily in Paris, which launched on December 18th. The trailer shows Emily adjusting to her new life in Rome with character Marcello, played by Eugenio Franceschini.
A significant point of fan speculation involves the potential exit of a major character, Gabriel, played by Lucas Bravo. In the clip, Gabriel tells Emily he's excited about the future before boarding a train, leaving his destination unclear. His absence from the initial trailer had previously caused concern among viewers.
The official synopsis hints at professional and romantic challenges for Emily in Rome, a work idea that backfires, and a big secret threatening one of her closest relationships. The season promises to see Emily tackle conflict with honesty, emerging with deeper connections and renewed clarity.
