Eliminate Ants Instantly With Two Kitchen Items

Ants can quickly become a problem in your home, especially during spring and summer when they are most active. They venture indoors seeking food, and due to their tiny size, they require only the smallest gap to gain access. While most insects are bothersome, ants can be particularly aggravating as they often arrive in large numbers, sometimes covering kitchen worktops in search of spilled sugar.

Fortunately, a simple method using two common kitchen ingredients can eliminate these uninvited visitors and prevent their return. A viral TikTok video demonstrated how baking soda and sugar can successfully tackle ant infestations. The man in the video explained: 'You're going to need some baking soda and some sugar. It doesn't really matter what kind of sugar you use, the sugar is just to attract the ants.'

He recommended combining one cup of baking soda with one cup of sugar, maintaining a 1:1 ratio. If the ants' entry point is visible, scatter the mixture directly over it; otherwise, spread a layer along the skirting boards. The ants are attracted to the sugar but consume the baking soda as well. When they return to their nest and drink water, a chemical reaction occurs in their stomachs, killing them. Moreover, the ants carry the mixture back to the colony, distributing it among others and eventually destroying the entire nest.

To prevent future infestations, eliminate food sources by clearing crumbs, spillages, and leftover food. Empty waste bins and clean work surfaces with a vinegar and water solution to remove scent trails. This simple trick offers an effective, non-toxic solution to a common household problem.
