In a profoundly moving and intimate revelation, Kelsey Parker has shared the simple yet powerful ritual she uses to help her two young children feel connected to their late father, Tom Parker.
The Wanted star tragically passed away in March 2022 after a courageous and very public battle with an inoperable brain tumour, leaving behind Kelsey and their children, Aurelia, now four, and three-year-old Bodhi.
Kelsey has now opened up about the heartwarming method that brings them all comfort. She uses Tom's favourite fragrance, a scent that was uniquely his, to keep his presence alive within their family home.
A Scent of Comfort
"I spray it on his jumpers for the kids," Kelsey explained. "So if Bodhi is really upset, I'll spray it on the jumper and he'll literally sit there with the jumper and he'll be like, 'That's my daddy.'"
This poignant act bridges the gap between memory and reality for the young boy, who was just a toddler when his father died. The familiar aroma provides a tangible link to the father he is still getting to know through stories and memories.
Honouring Tom's Legacy
Kelsey's approach to navigating grief is one of openness and honesty. She firmly believes in keeping Tom's spirit present in their everyday lives, ensuring Aurelia and Bodhi grow up knowing the incredible man their father was.
This extends beyond the emotional to the practical. Kelsey has also spoken about the importance of financial security for her family, a concern for many young widows. Her strength in facing both the emotional and practical challenges of her loss has resonated deeply with the public.
Her candid discussions about widowhood, grief, and single parenting offer a raw and relatable look at life after loss, providing solace and solidarity to others walking a similar path.
