Glamour model and television personality Kelly Brook, soon to enter the I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! jungle, has shared a startling revelation about her past, confessing she once called off a wedding just moments before the ceremony was due to begin.
The Heartbreaking Decision in a Wedding Dress
Whilst appearing as a panellist on ITV's Loose Women, the 45-year-old star recounted the dramatic day she decided she could not go through with her marriage. The conversation emerged as the show debated whether it is ever acceptable to jilt a partner at the altar.
Brook clarified that she did not technically jilt her former partner, but did call off the wedding on the very day, whilst she was already wearing her wedding dress. She described the scene as "horrific" and "like a movie".
The couple were about to board a private jet to Las Vegas for the ceremony when Brook was overcome with emotion. "The jet was waiting, we were going to Vegas that day, and I was just crying," she told her co-stars. "It was the most horrific thing. But we stayed together, and he kind of came around to it and understood why." She chose not to name the famous ex in question.
Reflecting on Age and Coercion
Now at the age of 45, Brook has gained perspective on the relationship's breakdown, identifying a significant age gap as a major factor. She was 25 at the time, while her partner was 42. She stated pointedly, "They should have known better."
The model and actress went on to explain that she felt "really manipulated" and "coerced" into a commitment for which she was not ready. She described herself as a "people pleaser" who went along with the wedding plans until the very last possible moment.
"Sometimes you want to stay with the person, but you're not necessarily ready for that kind of commitment," Brook explained. "So it wasn't like I jilted them, but it was just that the whole situation was wrong."
A Turbulent Time and Happy Ending
During this period in her life, Brook was reportedly in a relationship with Titanic actor Billy Zane, now 59. It is believed they met in 2004 while filming the movie Survival Island. Their relationship lasted four years before ending in 2008.
Before her involvement with Zane, Brook was engaged to actor Jason Statham, though they parted ways in 2003. In a poignant twist of fate, the same year she called off her wedding at age 25, Brook was voted FHM's Sexiest Woman in the World, highlighting the stark contrast between her professional highs and personal turmoil.
Today, Kelly Brook's story has a happy ending. The actress is now happily married to model Jeremy Parisi. The couple, who first met in 2014, tied the knot in 2022. As she prepares to face the gruelling Bushtucker Trials in the Australian jungle, Brook is clearly in a much more secure and content chapter of her life.
