Katie Price's Mother Did Work for Margaret Thatcher, But Not as PA

Katie Price has clarified the nature of her mother's connection to former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, after a claim on a podcast caused confusion. During an appearance on The Louis Theroux podcast, Price stated that her mother Amy, 71, had worked as Thatcher's personal assistant. However, MailOnline has confirmed that Amy Price was actually a temporary worker at the 1980s Conservative Party conference in Brighton, tasked with editing transcripts of MPs' speeches.

A representative for Katie explained that Amy was brought in as a temp for the conference, where she edited transcripts to ensure accuracy before they were released to the press. This included speeches by Margaret Thatcher and other MPs. The role was not that of a personal assistant, a position held for decades by Cynthia 'Crawfie' Crawford.

On the podcast, Katie said: 'My mum, funny enough, she used to work in the bank. She was Maggie Thatcher's PA at some point.' When Louis Theroux expressed disbelief, she insisted: 'Yeah, at one point.' However, she admitted she had never asked her mother for any 'inside info' about the former PM, adding: 'One thing I stay away from is politics and religion because you'll never win.'

Katie herself has a history with politics, having stood as an independent candidate in the 2001 general election under the slogan 'Vote Jordan for a bigger and betta future'. She finished last with 713 votes. Despite never having voted, she has since campaigned for 'Harvey's Law', aiming to make online trolling a criminal offence, inspired by abuse directed at her son Harvey.
