Katie Piper has revealed that ITV bosses have one particularly difficult job when it comes to the daytime show Loose Women, describing it as 'so stressful'. The 42-year-old documentary maker, who has been a panelist on the show since July 2021, shared that the logistics of the lineup involve far more work than viewers might realize.
Behind the Scenes of Loose Women
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Piper explained: 'They run a rota. I feel so sorry for the producers because it must be so stressful. There's just so many different dynamics, personalities and diaries. Lots of the women have got other careers outside of the show, so it can be a real surprise who is going to be on the show and when. You can have a different panel every single time, which I think is kind of the beauty of the show, because you never know what kind of episode you are going to get or the dynamics that you are going to get.'
Piper, known for her documentary work on serious subjects, said Loose Women has allowed her to show a lighter side. 'I love doing it because all of the other telly that I have done before Loose was like a lot of documentaries and hard-hitting, serious subjects. So Loose has allowed me to have a little bit of fun and allow the audience to see a less serious side of me, which I've really enjoyed.'
Addressing 'Clashes' Headlines
The TV star also hit back at reports of on-screen clashes among the panel. 'It is a debate show, you are not supposed to agree on everything. You are supposed to come with your views and opinions, and I think when people see women not agreeing with each other then they see that as a 'row'. But no, women can just have an opinion and disagree. With men, that would be called a 'debate', you know? So it's not catty or falling out and no one hates anyone. We are all colleagues and some of us are good friends outside of the show, but we would not be doing our job if we just all agreed all of the time.'
Partnership with Dove
Away from Loose Women, Piper has partnered with Dove Whole Body Deodorant to help Brits combat the 'evening bail' — the tendency to cancel plans due to lack of confidence. She unveiled the UK's first 'Stay Ready With Me' Station at Battersea Power Station, a pop-up where people can freshen up and rethink last-minute cancellations.
Piper said: 'I hope this campaign can be the start of normalising everyday odour and knowing that there is a way to maintain confidence from head-to-toe all day long. Having plans and friends is important and we want to see people stay connected instead of bailing. It's a really feel-good campaign with an affordable solution that everyone can access. I'm so very proud to be a part of it and to carry the product in my handbag.'
