Angelina Jolie has sold her 50% stake in Château Miraval, the French winery she co-owned with ex-husband Brad Pitt, for an undisclosed sum. The buyer is Tenute del Mondo, part of the Stoli Group, which also owns prestigious wine labels Masseto and Ornellaia. The vineyard, located in Correns, France, is valued at $164 million (£119 million).
The sale proceeds despite a lawsuit filed by Pitt, who accused Jolie's company Nouvel of attempting to cut him out of a potential sale and not acting in the best interest of Quimicum, the entity that owns the estate. The couple purchased the 1,000-acre property in 2008 and married there in 2014.
Jon Pepper MW, managing director of Tenute del Mondo, confirmed the acquisition, stating: 'With the addition of a Rosé of this caliber we are well-positioned to meet the exquisite demands of both customers and partners alike.' Stoli Group CEO Damian McKinney added that the company is 'honored to do our part to uphold the integrity and commitment' of the Miraval brand.
The divorce proceedings, initiated in 2016, remain unresolved regarding custody of their six children: Maddox, 20, Zahara, 16, Pax, 17, Shiloh, 15, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 13. The couple was declared legally single in 2019 but continue to dispute asset division and parenting arrangements.
Jolie has previously stated that the split was for the 'wellbeing of her family,' telling Vogue India in 2020: 'I continue to focus on their healing.' Metro.co.uk has contacted representatives for both actors for comment.
