Comedian Joe Wilkinson has set tongues wagging by revealing that a genuine Hollywood superstar could be in the running for the next instalment of the hit BBC reality gameshow, The Celebrity Traitors.
A Star-Studded Suggestion
Wilkinson, who himself appeared in the show's first series, disclosed that he filmed alongside none other than Keira Knightley for the upcoming Waitrose Christmas advertisement, titled The Perfect Gift. It was during this collaboration that the Pirates of the Caribbean actress reportedly expressed her interest in the treacherous reality programme.
The comedian praised Knightley's demeanour on set, describing her as possessing undeniable 'star quality stuff' while also being remarkably down-to-earth. He also commended the advert's director, Molly Manners, for her work on the project.
Wilkinson's Own Traitors Experience
Joe Wilkinson knows the format all too well, having been a contestant in the debut celebrity series. His time in the Scottish castle was cut short, however, as he was 'murdered' in the early stages by fellow celebrities Jonathan Ross, Cat Burns, and Alan Carr.
His personal experience with the show's high-stakes deception and strategy gives weight to his belief that Knightley would be a fascinating addition to the cast, potentially bringing a new dynamic to the game.
What This Means for the Next Series
While no official casting announcements have been made by the BBC, Wilkinson's tease has certainly fuelled speculation and excitement amongst fans. The possibility of an A-list actress like Keira Knightley joining the lineup would mark a significant coup for the programme, following its successful launch.
The first series was noted for its dramatic twists and the way it 'changed' participants, as highlighted by historian David Olusoga. Whether Knightley will take on the challenge and test her ability to deceive remains to be seen, but the suggestion alone has already created a buzz.
