Jennifer Lopez Hits Back at Age Critics in Dazzling Las Vegas Residency Launch
J.Lo Claps Back at Critics Over 'Dress Your Age' Comments

Jennifer Lopez delivered a powerful message to her detractors as she launched her highly anticipated new Las Vegas residency this week. The 56-year-old superstar kicked off her 'Up All Night Live' show at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Tuesday night, dazzling a sold-out audience with a high-energy performance and a series of sensational, daring costumes.

A Fiery Response to Critics

During her jam-packed set, the singer and actress directly addressed those who have criticised her fashion choices and told her to 'dress her age'. With characteristic confidence, Lopez laughed off the comments, suggesting her critics were simply envious. 'But it is funny,' she told the crowd. 'I do laugh at some of the things people say sometimes... one of the things is, 'Why is she always dressed that way, why doesn't she dress her age?' I'm like, huh, if you had this body you would be naked too!'

Spectacular Costumes and Show-Stopping Performances

Lopez certainly showcased her famous figure in an array of jaw-dropping outfits throughout the 120-minute spectacle. Her numerous costume changes included:

  • A daring pink lace corset bodysuit paired with fishnet tights.
  • A racy green cut-out bodysuit as she was carried onstage by a shirtless dancer.
  • A bold black lace sheer catsuit featuring dramatic wings and a large collar.
  • A sophisticated bodysuit tuxedo with a glittering top hat.
  • An extreme plunging purple sequin gown, completed with long gloves and a fur wrap.

The show, which began with a Broadway-themed opener, was a musical journey through Lopez's career. The setlist cleverly blended her greatest hits like 'Waiting for Tonight' and 'Jenny From the Block' with show tunes such as 'Let Me Entertain You' from Gypsy. She concluded the powerful performance with her anthem, 'Let's Get Loud'.

A Major Vegas Return

This marks Lopez's second major Las Vegas residency. Her first, the 'All I Have' show at Planet Hollywood, concluded in 2018 after 120 performances that grossed an estimated $100 million. She announced plans for this new show, 'Up All Night Live', while hosting the American Music Awards in May 2025. After months of rehearsals, she finally took to the stage on December 30 for the premiere, performing for more than 4,000 fans.

The launch follows a festive period for Lopez, who shared cosy family Christmas photos in matching pyjamas with her sister and children. However, she also faced online commentary over a separate festive snap, where eagle-eyed fans speculated about photo editing due to an apparently curved iPhone in a mirror selfie.
