Jamie Lynn Spears Channels Britney's Iconic 2000 Look in New Instagram Post
Jamie Lynn Spears mimics Britney's Oops!... I Did It Again look

Jamie Lynn Spears, the 34-year-old estranged sister of pop icon Britney Spears, has sparked fresh conversation after seemingly channelling her famous sibling's most iconic look in a recent social media post.

A Blast from Britney's Past

On Wednesday, the Zoey 101 star shared a series of snaps on Instagram, showcasing a striking transformation. Sporting a bright red top and long, platinum blonde hair extensions, her appearance was a clear nod to Britney's unforgettable red latex catsuit and blonde locks from the 2000 music video for her hit 'Oops!…I Did It Again'.

Jamie Lynn, looking remarkably like her 44-year-old sister's twin, posed for the camera, flashing a peace sign in one image. She completed the look with grey jeans and pearl earrings. In a playful caption, she joked about the power of styling, writing: 'good lighting+tons of make-up+pounds of fake hair really make a difference.'

Festive Gatherings and Family Tensions

The style-inspired post follows Jamie Lynn's glimpse into her family Christmas celebrations, which notably included Britney's older son, 20-year-old Sean Preston. On December 25th, she posted a carousel of images from her Louisiana home, featuring Preston alongside her own daughters Maddie, 17, and Ivey, 7, her husband Jamie Watson, and her mother Lynne Spears, 70.

The festive snaps showed the family posing by a large tree and opening gifts. In a poignant detail, Jamie Lynn revealed she gifted her eldest daughter Maddie an ATV, nearly nine years after the teenager was hospitalised in a coma following a serious ATV accident.

Conspicuously absent from the gathering was Britney herself. Three days later, the singer appeared to address the event in a sarcastic Instagram post. She wrote under a picture of a decorated tree: 'Merry late Christmas to my beautiful family who have never disrespected me, harmed me, ever done anything completely unacceptable or caused unbelievable trauma, the kind you can't fix…'

She added, 'To my dear sweet innocent family... so so sorry I was busy this Christmas but I will definitely show up and surprise you soon...' before giving a special shoutout to her niece Ivey. Britney did, however, spend the holiday with her younger son, 19-year-old Jayden, with a source describing it as a 'special holiday' for them.

A Contentious Family History

The public display and subtle references are the latest in years of strained relations within the Spears family, largely stemming from Britney's 13-year conservatorship that ended in November 2021. The legal arrangement, controlled by her father Jamie Spears, was terminated after Britney made serious allegations of abuse in court.

The feud between the sisters became particularly public in early 2022 following the release of Jamie Lynn's memoir, Things I Should Have Said. Britney used Instagram to accuse her sister of lying and capitalising on her trauma, writing: 'The nerve of you to sell a book now and talk s**t but [you're] f***ing lying.'

Jamie Lynn later attempted to quell the animosity via her Instagram Story, pleading for private reconciliation. 'Britney — Just call me,' she wrote. 'I have attempted many times to speak to you directly and handle this privately like sisters should, but you still choose to do everything on a public platform.' She called the public feud 'embarrassing' and stated it 'has to stop.'

The Daily Mail has approached representatives for both Jamie Lynn and Britney Spears for comment.
