Jack Nicholson's 89th Birthday Rare Photo with Joni Mitchell

Hollywood legend Jack Nicholson was seen in a very rare picture as he celebrated his 89th birthday with fellow icon Joni Mitchell. The Oscar-winner's daughter, Lorraine Nicholson, gave fans a glimpse into their celebration on Instagram.

A Rare Glimpse into the Birthday Celebration

Jack Nicholson beamed with joy in a rare photo as he celebrated his 89th birthday in style, surrounded by his family and Hollywood pals. He was seen looking as sharp as ever, sitting down and clapping while the singer Joni Mitchell, 82, a guest at the party, clapped along beside him.

Lorraine first shared a throwback of her dad wearing a Coca-Cola T-shirt and relaxing with a cigar, with the caption: “89?” and followed it with the present-day photo of the star clapping, alongside the message: “89!!”

Jack Nicholson's Family and Career

Jack shares Lorraine with ex-wife Rebecca Broussard and is also father to Jennifer Nicholson, 61, Caleb Goddard, 54, Honey Hollman, 43, Ray Nicholson and Tessa Gourin, 31. The As Good As It Gets actor, who once enjoyed wild nights out in Hollywood, has taken a step back from the spotlight in recent years after a decades-long screen career and is rarely seen in public.

Jack has been a staple of the big screen since making his acting debut in the 1950s. He stole the show in huge roles, including The Departed, Batman, and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. However, despite becoming one of the biggest actors in the industry, he quietly turned his back on the industry.

While he has made rare appearances at basketball games and popped up at Saturday Night Live's 50th birthday celebrations last year, his last screen role came in the 2010 flick How Do You Know, alongside Paul Rudd, Reese Witherspoon, and Owen Wilson. It is not clear what led to Jack's decision to take a step back, but he has been spending more time with his loved ones in recent years.

Following in His Footsteps

Both Lorraine and Ray have followed his footsteps in Hollywood. The actress described him as her “mentor” in a sweet chat with Us Weekly, shedding light on the advice he gave her. “I'm going into the family business because we're so close and he's such an inspiration. I admire him so much,” she told the outlet. “My grandma always told my father, 'Don't toot your own horn,' which in Nicholson speak means, 'Be modest and let your work speak for yourself.' That's what I applied to not only my acting work, but my every day work.”
