Howard Donald in Tears at Take That Manchester Show: 'Blew My Mind'
Howard Donald in Tears at Take That Manchester Show

Howard Donald was left in tears during Take That's homecoming shows at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester over the weekend, describing the experience as one that 'blew my mind'. The 58-year-old singer, originally from Higher Openshaw, performed alongside bandmates Mark Owen from Oldham and Gary Barlow from Frodsham for three nights as part of the rebooted Circus Live Tour.

Emotional Homecoming

The tour marks the first time in 17 years that Take That has performed the Circus extravaganza, with the trio returning to the city where the band was formed in 1990. During the opening show on Friday night, the crowd's prolonged applause after the song 'Never Forget' left the band visibly stunned, with Howard seen wiping away tears.

Howard, who grew up less than a mile from the Etihad Stadium, told the Friday night crowd: 'The Manchester crowd do not let us down.' The same emotional response occurred on Saturday, with Howard left 'lost for words' after the overwhelming support. His voice cracking, he said: 'Manchester thank you so so much, it's so good to be home it really really is. I've actually forgotten what I was going to say now, I'm lost for words.'

He continued: 'There’s never a dull moment in this band and when something like that at the end of never forget happens it really did make me lose it! It just goes to show we never take this life for granted after 35 years.'

He added: 'Surprises round every corner that knock you off your feet! Never relying on the last record or tour success we always strive for better and more entertaining that will give the ticket that you need!' Howard concluded by saying: 'I was handed the golden ticket in 1990 and we all went together on that 35 year journey and what a blast it’s been! Thankyou from the bottom of my heart!'
