Hamilton's Wealth Cap Call Amid Kardashian Romance

Lewis Hamilton, who previously argued that billionaires should not exist, has gone public with his new girlfriend, billionaire reality TV star Kim Kardashian, at the Monaco Grand Prix. The couple, who have been dating for several months, were seen together in the Formula 1 paddock for the first time over the weekend.

Kardashian attended the race as Hamilton finished second on the streets of Monte Carlo, behind race winner Kimi Antonelli. During the podium celebrations, the pair blew kisses to each other in a moment that quickly went viral on social media. Kardashian also sparked controversy when a member of her security team pushed Martin Brundle during the grid walk before the race.

Hamilton spoke publicly about his relationship with Kardashian for the first time over the weekend. He said, "It's amazing to have her come this weekend and have the support. But, you know, with my friends, incredible turnout, just overall, the people. It's amazing to have good people around you and good people supporting you, and she does that for me every day."

Hamilton's Previous Comments on Wealth

The relationship comes three years after Hamilton called for a wealth cap on the world's richest people in an interview with Jay Shetty. This is despite Kardashian having a net worth of around £1.27 billion, according to Forbes. In that interview, Hamilton said, "One of the things that I struggle with every day is that there is such a disparity between the wealthy and the poor. When you drive around LA there's still so many people living on the streets. You shouldn't be able to have billions. I think there should be a limit to how much you can have because there's enough to go around for everyone."

Hamilton himself is among the highest-paid athletes in world sport, with an estimated net worth of around £435 million. He currently earns approximately £52 million per year under the terms of his Ferrari contract, which is believed to run until the end of 2027. Like many other F1 drivers, he lives in Monaco, a tax haven that does not levy personal income tax, capital gains taxes, wealth tax, or local council taxes on residents.

Hamilton's Recent Form

Quizzed on his recent form, which has seen him secure back-to-back podium finishes, Hamilton added, "It feels amazing to be up here and such a privilege to still be here, to be driving for Ferrari, to still be one of the 22 drivers in this sport. To have two seconds, especially I think after a good race in Montreal because everyone was kind of like, 'Yeah, but he's quick there.' I feel like I'm in a period where I'm having to remind people of who I am, and I think my fans last year were telling me to remind me of who I am, and now I'm having to show up each weekend and try to do that. I think it's great to see that it's like a rejuvenated love in the team, and I think their belief also in me and the decision in hiring me and everything. So, I'm very happy."
