Radio Star Fifi Box's Oasis Concert Clash Sparks Backlash: 'I Was Absolutely Mortified'
Fifi Box criticised for leaving daughter's party for Oasis concert

Australian radio personality Fifi Box has found herself at the centre of a social media storm after making a controversial confession about her parenting priorities during Monday's Fox FM show.

The 47-year-old host revealed she'd made the difficult decision to leave her seven-year-old daughter Trixie's birthday party celebrations early to attend the highly anticipated Oasis reunion concert in Melbourne last weekend.

'I Was Absolutely Mortified'

Box didn't hold back when describing her emotional turmoil, telling her co-host and listeners: 'I was absolutely mortified. I was so embarrassed. I felt so guilty.'

She detailed how she'd organised an elaborate pool party for her daughter and fifteen friends, complete with a mermaid entertainer, only to slip away before the cake was served to make her concert appointment.

Listener Backlash Erupts

The confession sparked immediate reaction from the show's audience, with many taking to social media to criticise the radio star's decision.

One angry listener commented: 'Sorry, but your child's birthday should come before a concert. That's just basic parenting.'

Another added: 'She's only seven once. You can see Oasis another time.'

Defending Her Decision

Box attempted to justify her choice by explaining the extraordinary circumstances surrounding the concert. 'This was Oasis! Their first show in forever!' she pleaded with her co-host Brendan Fevola.

She emphasized that her daughter still had a wonderful party and was well cared for by other adults when she departed. 'She had the best time, she didn't even notice I was gone,' Box claimed.

The emotional host concluded that while she understood the criticism, she couldn't pass up the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see her favourite band reunite.
