A former music industry professional has shared her strikingly different experiences of meeting pop icons Kylie and Dannii Minogue, revealing a tale of two sisters. The anonymous woman posted her account on a Digital Spy forum thread discussing 'nice and not very nice celebrities who you have met'.
Kylie's Kindness Shines Through
The woman, who stated she has 'pretty much met everyone' from her time in a band, described Kylie Minogue as the 'nicest by a million miles'. She recounted a chance meeting where the 'Padam Padam' singer, then 57, came to her aid without any fanfare. 'I was carrying two massive shopping bags, one of the bags burst open. My entire shopping tumbled out and on to the street,' she wrote.
'A tiny woman wearing no make up and a cap asked if she could help,' the poster continued, explaining she went to get a new bag while the stranger watched her items. It was only after the woman helped load the shopping and flashed a smile that the fan realised her helper was global superstar Kylie. The singer even remembered the encounter years later when they met again.
A Different Experience with Dannii
Her experience with Dannii Minogue, however, was markedly different. The poster was clear to separate the past from the present, noting that 'nowadays she is lovely, seems content and happy.' However, she described the younger Minogue sister's demeanour in the 1990s as that of 'a different person, rude and snappy.'
The commenter was careful not to condemn Dannii outright, suggesting the star was 'going through some bad times' during that period and emphasising that her opinion of the now 54-year-old has not been permanently affected.
Other Fans Rush to Dannii's Defence
The critical account prompted several other forum users to share their own, more positive interactions with Dannii Minogue. One poster countered, 'I met Danni a few weeks ago, and I found her to be lovely actually. She was stopping for everyone, signing, taking pictures.'
Further supportive comments included one user who met her through 'VIP tkts to X Factor,' and another whose friend had worked with her and 'really likes her.' A fourth simply stated 'Dannii was nice,' while another concluded, 'I met Dannii Minogue years and years ago and found her pretty nice.'
The Minogue discussion emerged on the same forum thread where another fan expressed disappointment after meeting Will Young. That poster described the Pop Idol winner as 'dismissive' and requiring security to organise a queue of fans, though she conceded he was nice to talk to once they met and hoped he was simply having a 'bad day'. Other users defended Young, with one calling him one of the 'nice people he had met'.
