According to the New Hampshire State Police, emergency calls indicated that the vehicle was ablaze and that an individual appeared to be trapped inside. The driver was identified as Yevgeny Mirman, a 51-year-old resident of Massachusetts. He was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries.

A veteran state trooper, who was assigned to the security detail of New Hampshire governor Kelly Ayotte, arrived at the scene and observed the vehicle actively on fire with Mirman still inside. Colonel Hall confirmed that Governor Ayotte was not in any danger during the incident. She exited her vehicle to retrieve a fire extinguisher in an attempt to assist. In a statement to Boston news outlet WCVB, Hall noted that Ayotte tried to help in any way possible and was never in harm's way. Ayotte later posted on social media, expressing gratitude to everyone who assisted and praying for the driver's full recovery.

Mirman's agent, Jay Glassner, confirmed the incident in a statement to The New York Times, describing it as a very scary car accident.
