Leonardo DiCaprio Roasted Over Dating History at Golden Globes 2026
DiCaprio's Dating Habits Mocked at Golden Globes

The 2026 Golden Globes ceremony in Los Angeles delivered its share of memorable moments, but one of the most talked-about was a pointed joke aimed at Hollywood heavyweight Leonardo DiCaprio. Comedian and host Nikki Glaser roasted the actor for his well-documented history of dating younger women, a quip she later branded as "cheap."

The 'Cheap' Shot That Made Headlines

During the ceremony on Sunday 11 January 2026, Glaser turned her comedic sights on DiCaprio, who was in attendance. The 50-year-old star of One Battle After Another has frequently been linked to women significantly younger than him, including former girlfriends like Danish model Nina Agdal (25 at the time) and actress Camila Morrone (20). He is currently romantically linked to 27-year-old Italian model Vittoria Ceretti.

Addressing DiCaprio directly, Glaser said: "What a career you've had: countless iconic performances, you've worked with every great director, you've won three Golden Globes, an Oscar, and the most impressive thing is you were able to accomplish all of that before your girlfriend turned 30."

The camera cut to DiCaprio, who smiled and looked down at his table, taking the jab in good humour. Glaser immediately apologised, calling her own joke "cheap," but then doubled down by quipping that the public knows little else about the intensely private actor. "I tried not to make it but, you know, we don't know anything else about you, man. There's nothing else, open up," she added.

Not the First Time at the Globes

This was not the first instance of DiCaprio's personal life becoming fodder for Golden Globes humour. Back in 2020, host Ricky Gervais made a similar crack while discussing DiCaprio's film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Gervais joked that the movie was so long that "by the end his date was too old for him."

Glaser, who was hosting the ceremony for the second consecutive year, had previously stated that making jokes about celebrities is a sign of respect, a philosophy that allows her to "get away with something negative." Her routine also referenced a 1991 Teen Beat magazine interview from DiCaprio's early career, playfully asking if his favourite food was still "pasta, pasta and more pasta."

Ceretti Speaks Out on the 'Girlfriend' Label

The joke comes as DiCaprio's current partner, Vittoria Ceretti, recently opened up about the challenges of dating a globally famous figure. In an interview with Vogue Australia, Ceretti expressed frustration at being reduced to a label. "As soon as you're in a relationship with someone who has a larger following than you, you become 'girlfriend of'," she said. "Suddenly, people are talking about you as so-and-so's girlfriend who was so-and-so's ex. So it's not nice to think that you can't love whoever you want, because of the labels people need to stick on you."

On the awards front, DiCaprio's film One Battle After Another was a major winner on the night, securing four trophies. However, DiCaprio himself lost out on the Best Actor award to Timothée Chalamet. Other notable winners included Jessie Buckley, Rose Byrne, and DiCaprio's co-star Teyana Taylor.

The incident underscores the enduring fascination with DiCaprio's private life, proving that even at one of Hollywood's most prestigious events, his off-screen narrative can sometimes steal a moment from his acclaimed on-screen work.
