Dave Kendall, the British-born TV host and music journalist best known for hosting MTV's 120 Minutes, has died. His successor on the show, Matt Pinfield, confirmed the news on Tuesday via a heartfelt post on X.

"Heartbroken to hear about the passing of Dave Kendall," Pinfield wrote. "Dave was one of the true believers. Long before alternative music found its way into the mainstream, he was there every week on 120 Minutes, introducing people to bands that would go on to define an era. He didn't just host a show. He gave a home to music that deserved to be heard."
Pinfield added: "He loved the music, respected the artists, and connected with fans in a way that always felt authentic. That's a rare gift. Sending love to everyone whose life he touched. Rest easy, Dave." Pinfield did not disclose Kendall's age or cause of death.

Kendall rose to prominence in the 1980s after producing MTV's 120 Minutes, a music video show spotlighting alternative bands and artists. The show launched in 1986, and Kendall took over hosting duties in 1989, remaining until 1992. According to Deadline, in his final years, Kendall worked as a freelance music writer and as a correspondent for the Bangkok Post. He also appeared on SiriusXM.
