Five Pop Stars Who Built Pubs in Their Homes

From Iron Maiden's Steve Harris to Ed Sheeran, several pop stars have taken the concept of a home bar to the next level by constructing fully-fledged pubs within their residences. These in-home pubs serve as both a status symbol and a practical solution for celebrities who wish to enjoy a pint without the hassle of public attention.

Steve Harris, bassist and primary songwriter for Iron Maiden, owned an 11-bedroom mansion in Sheering, Essex, parts of which date back to 1427. The property, listed for £6.75 million in 2013, featured an indoor swimming pool, gym, tennis court, full-sized football pitch, and a pub called The Horse And Cart. Despite price reductions to under £4 million, the house did not sell.

Ed Sheeran revealed in a January interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe that he has built a subterranean pub in his home, accessible via an underground tunnel. The pub includes a selection of beers and can be closed off from the rest of the house, allowing him to host parties without guests entering the main living areas.

Former One Direction star Zayn Malik built a pub in the back garden of his outer-London home as a tribute to his grandparents, who ran The Bradford Arms. The pub features taps, skull decorations, a novelty beer helmet, and a One Direction platinum disc. Malik told NME in 2016 that he assembled it himself using materials from Homebase.

AC/DC singer Brian Johnson, who grew up in North East England, also built a pub in his home, complete with a pool table and dartboard, as seen in a 1983 documentary. Meanwhile, rumours persist that Harry Styles has a pub in his London home, though only unnamed sources have been cited.
