In a heartfelt story post, the 41-year-old actress wrote: "I've been a little quiet on here. My dad recently died. I haven't quite known how to put it into words."
O'Brien accompanied her emotional message with Cat Stevens' classic song Father And Son, creating a poignant tribute to her late father.

The actress continued her message by expressing both her sorrow and relief that her father's suffering had ended. "My heart is very heavy but I'm grateful he is no longer suffering," she wrote.
O'Brien also took the opportunity to thank those who have supported her during this challenging period, adding: "Thank you to everyone who's held me steady through this difficult time. I love you. You mean the world to me. xx"

The tragic news comes during a period of significant change in the actress's personal life. Just weeks before her father's passing, O'Brien had announced she had found love again with new partner Adam Fadlé, a 38-year-old interior designer.
This new relationship followed her separation from husband Adam Crofts, which was revealed in June after weeks of speculation. The couple, who met in a Manchester coffee shop in 2011 and married in a surprise New Year's Eve ceremony in 2018, are said to be amicably co-parenting their 10-year-old son Beau.
A source previously told The Sun that the separation resulted from their different lifestyles, noting that while Crofts preferred fitness and quiet living, O'Brien enjoyed socialising with friends.
