The award-winning reality series 'The Traitors' is returning for a celebrity special, with host Claudia Winkleman inviting a group of famous faces to the Scottish Highlands to play the ultimate game of detection, backstabbing and trust. The celebrities will compete to win up to £100,000 for their chosen charities.
In the game, hidden Traitors secretly 'murder' fellow players, while Faithful try to detect and banish them. If a Traitor remains undetected at the end, they take all the money. The Celebrity Traitors launches on Wednesday 8th October at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer, with two episodes per week on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Winkleman admitted she was initially scared about the celebrity version, saying she wanted to keep the show 'small'. However, she described the cast as 'tremendous' and said she was in awe of them, particularly Stephen Fry, whom she told 'this was my dream'. She found hosting the celebrity version scarier because she wanted to chat with them but had to remain aloof.
The biggest challenge, she said, was being strict, as she wanted to sit down and have tea with the contestants. She described her wardrobe as 'unhinged in taffeta'. Winkleman revealed she is desperate to help during missions but is told off by her producer for dropping clues.
Contestants have shared their thoughts on whether they would prefer to be a Traitor or Faithful. One said they find the show fascinating from a psychological perspective and want to see the castle and meet the peacocks. Another admitted they can be too trusting and will look for signs of casual behaviour around shields. A third noted that strategising is difficult without knowing one's role.
