Real Madrid are reportedly planning a future move for Erling Haaland, with a release clause in his Manchester City contract set to become active in 2024. According to Spanish outlet El Chiringuito TV, the clause would allow the striker to leave for €200 million (£174 million).
Haaland joined City from Borussia Dortmund in the summer for £51 million and has made a sensational start, scoring 17 goals in 11 appearances. His form has included hat-tricks in three consecutive home league matches, and he is already close to matching last season's Premier League Golden Boot tally of 23 goals.
Manchester City are reportedly keen to fend off Real Madrid's interest by offering Haaland a new contract. Mundo Deportivo claims the club is already working on an improved deal, which would likely make Haaland the highest earner at the Etihad and remove the release clause. Haaland currently earns £375,000 per week on a five-year contract.
Pep Guardiola has praised Haaland extensively, comparing him to Lionel Messi after the striker's two-goal debut. Following Haaland's hat-trick and two assists in the Manchester derby, Guardiola said, "No one can compete" with Haaland's ability at his age.
