GMB's Charlotte Hawkins Welcomes Rescue Puppy 'Moose' After Heartbreaking Loss
Charlotte Hawkins' new puppy after losing beloved dog Bailey

Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins has been overwhelmed by messages of support after introducing a 'new addition' to her family, just two years after suffering a devastating loss.

A Heartwarming Announcement

The ITV and Classic FM star took to Instagram on Sunday, 11 January 2026, to share the joyful news with her followers. She posted a series of adorable photos revealing that she, her husband Mark Herbert, and their daughter Ella Rose have welcomed a new puppy into their home.

The broadcaster explained that their new pet is a Labrador cross, a mixed-breed dog involving a Labrador Retriever, whom they have named Moose. The family found him with the help of the charity Dog's Trust at their West London centre.

Celebrity Friends and Colleagues React

Charlotte's social media post was quickly flooded with congratulatory comments from famous friends and ITV colleagues. Fellow Dog's Trust ambassador Pete Wicks simply wrote: "Love this," prompting Charlotte to suggest a future visit to the Basildon centre featured in his TV show.

Good Morning Britain's weather presenter Laura Tobin expressed her delight, commenting: "Tooo cuuuute. So happy for you all." Style expert Mark Heyes called the pup "Beyond cute," while This Morning's Ben Shephard gushed, "He's gorgeous." Former ITV host Eamonn Holmes offered a playful prediction: "And he'll grow to be as big as a Moose, Charlotte! Congratulations."

Healing After a Devastating Loss

This happy news follows a period of profound grief for the Hawkins-Herbert family. In an interview with Woman magazine in January 2025, Charlotte opened up about the loss of their previous rescue dog, Bailey, who passed away at the age of 16.

Charlotte, who had adopted Bailey as a four-month-old puppy, described the impact as a "physical pain" she had not anticipated. She admitted that the loss made her question whether she could ever open her heart to another pet. The family had waited for the right moment and the right dog before deciding to adopt again through the Dog's Trust.

In her Instagram caption, Charlotte wrote: "It's been a couple of years now since we lost Bailey... We're so thrilled to have him. Now the puppy training begins!! Any tips?!" She fittingly used the hashtags #puppyrescue and #adoptdontshop to promote rescue pet adoption.
