Hip-hop superstar Cardi B has launched a fierce defence of her relationship with NFL player Stefon Diggs, directly confronting her followers on social media after what she called "mean" speculation about their romance. The 33-year-old rapper, whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar, urged fans to "calm down" after intense online discussion was sparked by the couple spending Christmas Day separately.
Social Media Plea for Calm Amid Fan Scrutiny
In a lengthy video posted to X, formerly Twitter, Cardi B addressed the rumours head-on. The Grammy Award-winner revealed she had been "dragged" by followers for several days after fans noted the absence of the 32-year-old New England Patriots wide receiver from her festive Instagram posts. Diggs himself fuelled the separate celebrations narrative by sharing on his Instagram stories that he was spending time with his other children.
"You need to calm down," the "WAP" artist stated emphatically. "You've been dragging me for three or four days, you've been a little bit too mean. I can't go back in time, I already had a baby. You want me to put my baby back? What do you want me to do, you want me to leave my man?"
Navigating New Motherhood and Demanding Work Commitments
The couple welcomed their first child together in November 2025. Cardi B also has three children from her previous marriage to rapper Offset: daughters Kulture, seven, and Blossom, one, and son Wave, four.
Beyond addressing the relationship speculation, Cardi B highlighted the significant pressures of her imminent professional schedule. "I have so much work to do when January starts that is stressing me out, I have to rehearse for 10-12 hours a day for tour," she explained. Making a direct appeal to her fanbase, she added, "I need my support system, my fans, to love me. I want good for you. Wish me the same thing."
A Relationship in the Public Eye
Cardi B and Stefon Diggs first sparked romance rumours in February 2025 after being spotted arriving together at a Miami hotel. They went public with their relationship in May. The pair have been seen together at high-profile events, notably sitting courtside at an NBA playoff game between the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics at Madison Square Garden.
Their relationship has faced public scrutiny before. In July, Cardi B archived all posts featuring the NFL star from her Instagram profile, leading to widespread breakup rumours. She later addressed the drama on Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast, stating, "I'm very dramatic. That's the thing, something that to people is a big deal, to me it's not a big deal at the moment. And then it's like, ugh, it became something it's not." She clarified that she didn't delete the posts but archived them.
The rapper's latest intervention underscores the intense spotlight on celebrity relationships and the direct line stars now have to address rumours and criticism from their followers.
