In a dramatic and deeply personal public statement, Brooklyn Beckham has broken his silence on the long-rumoured feud with his famous parents, David and Victoria Beckham, accusing them of trying to ruin his marriage and controlling his life for the sake of their public image.
The Explosive Instagram Statement
On Monday night, the 26-year-old aspiring chef took to his Instagram Story to share a six-page declaration, stating he has "no wishes to reconcile" with his family. He described feeling "controlled by a family that values public promotion above all else" and claimed that only since being with his wife, actress Nicola Peltz, 31, has he found "peace and relief" from crippling anxiety.
Brooklyn asserted that he is "standing up for myself for the first time in my life," and accused his parents of placing "countless lies in the media" to preserve their facade. The statement comes after months of visible estrangement, with the couple notably absent from David's 50th birthday celebrations and his knighthong ceremony.
Wedding Drama and Alleged Sabotage
The core of the conflict, according to Brooklyn, stems from his April 2022 wedding to Nicola Peltz. He made a series of stunning allegations against his parents:
- Victoria Beckham cancelled making Nicola's wedding dress at the "eleventh hour," forcing a last-minute scramble for the Valentino gown she eventually wore.
- His parents allegedly tried to pressure him into signing away the rights to his name just weeks before the wedding, a deal he refused.
- Victoria is accused of hijacking the couple's first dance, with Brooklyn claiming she danced "very inappropriately" with him in front of guests, leaving him "humiliated." This led them to renew their vows privately in August 2024 without his family present.
- He said family members told him the night before the wedding that Nicola was "not blood" and "not family."
Brooklyn also claimed his mother, Victoria, has "repeatedly invited women from my past" into their lives to cause discomfort.
Snubs, Conditions, and a Viral Clip
The fallout extended to major family events. Brooklyn revealed that while in London for his father's 50th birthday in May 2023, his requests for quality time were refused for a week. David eventually agreed to meet only on the condition that Nicola was not invited, which Brooklyn called "a slap in the face."
Following his statement, a clip from the 2023 Beckham Netflix premiere in London recirculated, highlighting the visible tension. In the footage, Brooklyn is seen pulling a reluctant Nicola into a family photo with his parents. Nicola then appears to shoot a tense glance towards Victoria and David, with social media users noting the palpable frostiness.
Brooklyn further alleged that his brothers, Romeo and Cruz, were sent to attack him on social media before blocking him last summer. Cruz had previously stated that the family woke up to find Brooklyn had blocked them.
A Life Controlled by 'Brand Beckham'
In his concluding remarks, Brooklyn painted a picture of a life dominated by public perception. "Brand Beckham comes first," he wrote. "Family 'love' is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo op."
He contrasted this with a simple request from Nicola for Victoria's support to save dogs during LA fires, which he claims was refused. Brooklyn ended by stating that stepping away from his family has eliminated his lifelong anxiety, and that he and Nicola seek only "peace, privacy and happiness."
The Daily Mail has reported that relations deteriorated so badly last summer that Brooklyn requested communication only through lawyers. He remains, however, in contact with both sets of grandparents. Representatives for David and Victoria Beckham have been contacted for comment.
