Actress and content creator Bella Thorne has candidly revealed that her long-awaited wedding to British businessman Mark Emms has been put on the back burner, with her demanding career taking precedence.
A Career in the Fast Lane Puts Wedding Plans on Hold
The former Disney star, who has been engaged to Emms for over two years, admitted she has not even settled on a date for the nuptials. "I do not have a date yet," she told People magazine, attributing the delay to her packed professional schedule.
Thorne is currently immersed in her passion project, Color Your Hurt, a film she wrote, directed, and stars in. She described the movie as "currently our baby, our child". Following this, she is set to appear in the upcoming sequel to the cult film Spring Breakers. She explained that planning will commence only after these projects are complete.
The couple's romantic journey began in 2022 at Cara Delevingne's birthday party on a beach in Ibiza. Emms, a film producer and co-owner of New York's The Mulberry nightclub, proposed on Mother's Day in 2023. In a modern twist, Thorne herself proposed back to him in August of this year during an elaborate setup filled with flowers, candles, and balloons.
The Quest for the Perfect Ring
One of the most distinctive details of their engagement was Emms's meticulous approach to selecting the ring. He presented Thorne with five different engagement rings, insisting she try each one for two weeks before choosing her favourite.
Recalling the moment to The Messenger, Thorne said Emms noticed her subtle reaction to the first ring. "He saw my face... and he was like: 'Yeah, let's go get you a different ring.'" After going through four more options, she finally settled on the fifth ring, a process she called "so ridiculous" but indicative of his desire for everything to be perfect.
In a 2023 interview with Vogue, Thorne hinted at a potential country house wedding in the UK and mused about wearing up to four gowns, possibly from vintage Dior or Schiaparelli.
Speaking Out on Hollywood Pressures
Beyond her wedding plans, Thorne has recently made headlines for her outspoken criticism of the weight-loss drug Ozempic, which has become popular in Hollywood. She confessed the trend affected her own body image.
"So I haven't been feeling good about my body in a while, especially with everybody on Ozempic," she stated, arguing it sets unrealistic beauty standards. She shared that she has resorted to intense daily swimming and walking to maintain her figure, proudly declaring she was finally feeling good and telling Ozempic to "f*** off".
For now, while fans await wedding details, it's clear that Bella Thorne's professional ambitions and personal convictions continue to command the spotlight.
