Ariana Grande Targeted in Shocking Red Carpet Incident

Ariana Grande was ambushed by an overzealous fan while walking the red carpet at the Singapore premiere of her new film, Wicked: For Good, on Thursday. The 32-year-old actress and singer was alongside her co-star, Cynthia Erivo, 38, when the alarming event unfolded.

Cynthia Erivo's Brave Intervention

Video footage, which was widely shared online, captured the moment a man lunged at Ariana, putting his arm around her as she visibly struggled to get away. The incident took place at Universal Studios Singapore. Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba in the film, immediately jumped between her friend and the man, bravely attempting to block him while seemingly shouting at the intruder.

The fan was described as wearing a white T-shirt and shorts, with distinctive long black hair featuring dyed blue streaks.

Aftermath and Past Trauma

Following the confrontation, Ariana appeared deeply shaken. She was seen taking deep breaths as she continued down the carpet with Cynthia by her side. This incident is particularly distressing given Ariana's previous openness about her mental health.

She has spoken about struggling with PTSD following the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing at her concert, a tragedy that claimed 22 lives. In a 2018 interview with British Vogue, she confirmed her diagnosis, stating, 'Yeah, it's a real thing.' She expressed the difficulty of discussing the trauma, noting the severe loss suffered by so many.

In the same interview, Ariana also opened up about her ongoing battles with anxiety, revealing it was at its most severe after she returned from her tour in September 2017.
