Coronation Street actor Antony Cotton has made a chilling revelation about his historic home renovation, confessing he feared there were 'bodies in the floorboards' of his converted church apartment in Scarborough.

The 50-year-old actor, best known for playing Sean Tully on the ITV soap for over two decades, shared his terrifying suspicions during a new episode of Celebrity Help! My House Is Haunted. The programme follows celebrities as they seek help with potentially paranormal activity in their properties.
Cotton described the initial state of his 18th century coastal property as 'horrendous', recalling: "When we first walked through the door it was horrendous! It was filthy, it stunk, it was freezing cold. The wind used to howl through the house."
The former Queer As Folk star made the grim admission about his renovation fears, stating: "When it was renovated - I know there was potentially bodies in the floorboards! There were the remains of poor souls that perished at sea."

The investigation team, consisting of psychic medium Ian Lawman and paranormal experts Katrina Weidman and Barri Ghai, delved into the property's mysterious history. The converted church apartment sits just 200 metres from the Scarborough coastline, adding to its atmospheric setting.

The actor revealed that his partner Peter had an intense negative reaction to the property, sometimes refusing to even enter the building. "My other half, Peter, hated it with a passion and would sometimes sit in the car and not get out of the car!" he explained.

During the investigation, medium Ian Lawman experienced a drowning sensation in his throat while approaching the property, suggesting a possible connection to maritime tragedies. The team's exploration revealed several spiritual entities within the historic building.
Lawman identified three distinct spirits during his investigation: a younger spirit from a war period, an adult fisherman, and an American female performer from the 1920s dressed in stylish, wealthy clothing. The psychic medium noted that all three entities appeared desperate to communicate.
The investigation took a dramatic turn when local historians confirmed that two bodies had indeed been found in separate sarcophagi during earlier work on the property. The researcher revealed: "Reports say that there were two bodies found in separate sarcophagi. The bodies were, shall we say, surrounded by 12th century artefacts."
