Brazil national team manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed he has decided on his starting line-up for next week's World Cup opener against Morocco, following a major injury blow to right-back Wesley. The Roma defender was taken off in the first half of Brazil's final warm-up game, a victory over Egypt, and was seen in tears after the match.
Wesley Injury Overshadows Victory
Brazil defeated Egypt in their final preparatory match before the World Cup, but the win was marred by an injury to Wesley. The 23-year-old right-back broke down during the first half and will now undergo tests to determine the severity of the problem. Ancelotti expressed his disappointment, stating: "First of all, it's a shame to lose Wesley. We have to wait for the tests now. But we have good players to replace him."
Ancelotti Confident in Squad Depth
Despite the setback, the legendary Italian manager remains confident in his squad. He confirmed that he has already settled on his starting XI for the crucial Group C opener against Morocco. "I have decided the starting line-up to play against Morocco," Ancelotti said. "I came away from this game with more certainty than doubts. It was a very good game for us."
Ancelotti also hinted that Lyon forward Endrick, who scored the winner against Egypt, could play a key role. He praised the young attacker: "He's very powerful and is always in the right place in the penalty box. And while Matheus Cunha maybe doesn't finish like Endrick, he's very important for building the game too."
Scotland Await in Final Group Game
Brazil's World Cup campaign begins against Morocco, with a showdown against Scotland in Miami scheduled for their final Group C match. Scotland will face the Samba stars in what promises to be a thrilling encounter. Ancelotti's side will be looking to make a strong start to the tournament, despite the injury concern.
