TV presenter and former England football star Alex Scott has spoken candidly about the emotional challenge of being separated from her girlfriend, pop sensation Jess Glynne, as she prepares to enter the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! jungle.
The Ultimate Relationship Test
In an exclusive interview, Scott admitted that her participation in the hit ITV show will mark the longest period the couple have ever spent apart. She revealed that despite the difficulty, it was Glynne who encouraged her to accept the jungle challenge. "It is a test for both of us," Scott confessed. "I know she is at home, and she is going to be my biggest cheerleader, supporting me, and she really wanted me to do this because she knew that I wanted to test myself."
The former Lioness, who arrived in Brisbane on November 14, 2025, described their relationship as being "genuinely so in love" and believes the time apart could ultimately strengthen their bond. "I suppose that is what makes the heart grow fonder, right?" she added with a laugh.
Guarding Their Private Love
Scott explained that the couple have been fiercely protective of their relationship since it began, choosing to keep things private initially to allow their connection to develop naturally away from public scrutiny. "We were very guarded and private with that, because we wanted to just kind of get to know each other and let what it was blossom and us figure it out ourselves before it was out there for the world," she said.
When asked what fans might not understand about their partnership, Scott responded that their social media presence accurately reflects two people who are deeply in love and mutually supportive. "What they have seen, whether it is on our social medias or anything, is just two people that are genuinely so in love and just care for each other and want each other both to just thrive and do the best in life," she shared. "But we just want to do it together."
Facing Jungle Vulnerabilities
While Scott is braced for the expected jungle hardships like creepy crawlies and sleep deprivation, she anticipates that the emotional aspect might prove even more challenging. "I think for me, that might be the tough side," she admitted. "I have always been so guarded and had this big armour up as a way of protection and kind of not letting people in... So I feel like being in the jungle and having those conversations, maybe I will have to show a vulnerable side and not have that armour up so much."
In a lighter moment, Scott revealed that Glynne has converted her into a carbohydrate enthusiast, joking that she now "absolutely loves it" after previously never really enjoying it.
The sports presenter turned broadcaster also hopes that her jungle experience might help her overcome her natural shyness, which she feels people often misunderstand due to her television career. "I am actually really quite shy," she revealed. "Which people around me know but I think people have a perception of me when you work on TV that you are the most outgoing, loudest one in the room. Where I think my challenge is going to be is amongst a group of big personalities."
Scott sees her jungle adventure as an opportunity for personal growth, adding: "I just kind of wanted to test myself in a new environment and see who comes out the other side really."
