Mother of Olympian Speaks Out as Wedding Drama Deepens
The mother of Olympic champion Adam Peaty has publicly praised her sister, describing her as a 'protector', as a bitter family feud intensifies just weeks before his wedding to Holly Ramsay. Caroline Peaty shared an emotional tribute on Instagram, thanking her sister Louise for unwavering support during what she calls a 'difficult time'.
The Roots of the Family Rift
The conflict, which has resulted in most of Peaty's family being uninvited from the Christmas wedding, reportedly began when the couple got engaged in September 2024. While it initially appeared the fallout started after Caroline wasn't invited to Holly's hen do at Soho Farmhouse, the tensions date back further. Caroline revealed to The Daily Mail that during the Paris Olympics last year, she felt Adam was being 'pulled away' from his relatives.
Despite Holly Ramsay sending a reassuring text message claiming he would 'always' be part of the family, the relationship deteriorated when Adam's extended family weren't invited to the lavish engagement party. Caroline's attempt to message Holly about the importance of family backfired, with Adam not taking kindly to the intervention.
Financial and Emotional Strain Revealed
The situation has taken both an emotional and financial toll on Caroline. She disclosed that she had been forced to sell personal items on Vinted to raise money for wedding attire, after Adam had initially offered to cover all costs including dress, shoes, nails and hair. She had planned to wear four different dresses throughout the wedding events.
One particular point of contention arose over a cream dress Caroline had chosen. 'He told me 'Only a bride wears white,' to which I replied 'It's not white, it's cream,'' she recounted. Although she returned this dress, she has kept a gold two-piece with matching fascinator and shoes that cost a staggering £452.
The emotional impact has been severe, with Caroline revealing that after dropping Adam's son off with his mother, she felt as though she 'didn't want to live' anymore. Despite everything, she maintains that she still loves her son and he will always be welcome at the family home in Staffordshire.
Meanwhile, Adam's aunt Louise has been vocal in her support of Caroline, even claiming that Holly had bodyshamed her sister. In her Instagram post, Caroline pleaded with critics: 'To the people are being so cruel to my sister, please stop! Sadly you obviously don't understand the bond of sisters.'
The wedding will now proceed with only Adam's sister in attendance from his family, a significant reduction from the original plans where his older brother was set to be a groomsman. Neither Adam Peaty nor Holly Ramsay have commented publicly on the ongoing family dispute.
