Adam Peaty's Mum Reveals 'I Didn't Want to Live' Over Wedding Ban
Adam Peaty's Mum 'Didn't Want to Live' Over Wedding Ban

The mother of Olympic champion Adam Peaty has made a heartbreaking admission, revealing she told her husband she ‘didn’t want to live’ after learning she was banned from her son’s upcoming wedding.

A Mother's Heartbreak

Caroline Peaty, the mother of the British swimming star, has spoken publicly about the devastating impact of an ongoing family feud. The situation escalated when she was informed she would not be welcome at Adam’s wedding to his fiancée, Holly Ramsay, which is scheduled for a stunning winter ceremony next month.

The news reportedly came while Caroline was looking after Adam’s five-year-old son, George. After dropping her grandson off with his mother, Adam’s ex-partner Eirianedd Munro, in Birmingham, Caroline broke down. “I was crying all the way home,” she recounted. “I got home and told Mark that for the first time in my life, I felt I didn’t want to live. That’s how low this has made me. I’m a strong woman and I can get through anything, but this has broken me.”

The Stag, The Hen, and The Growing Rift

The signs of a serious rift became public when Caroline was notably absent from Holly Ramsay’s hen do at the exclusive Soho Farmhouse. The event was attended by high-profile guests including Victoria Beckham, Holly’s mother Tana Ramsay, and her sisters Megan and Tilly. Adam’s sister, Bethany, was also present.

Simultaneously, Adam was celebrating his own stag do in Budapest. During this time, Caroline was at home caring for George. Adam and Holly began their relationship in 2022 after his split from George’s mother, Eirianedd, who remains close to the Peaty family. The couple met after Adam and Holly’s sister, Tilly, competed on the same series of Strictly Come Dancing.

‘He Won’t Back Down’

Caroline has characterised her son as resolute, a trait she links to his champion mindset. She stated, “Adam will not back down, nor will Holly. Adam rarely says sorry, he has a very black and white view.” This unwavering determination, while key to his Olympic success, appears to be deepening the family conflict.

According to Caroline’s sister, Louise, the manner of the wedding ban delivery was particularly cruel. Louise claimed her sister had to mask her “hurt and betrayal” in front of her grandchild, describing the situation as “sticking the knife in and twisting it.” She also alleged that Adam had called his mother a “c**p mother,” despite the significant sacrifices Caroline made for his career, such as dawn training drives and pushing the family into debt to fund his swimming dreams.

In a poignant reflection of her emotional state, Caroline recently shared an Instagram quote: “Crying is a way your eyes speak when your mouth can’t explain how broken your heart is.” She has since disabled comments on all her social media accounts.
