Alan Carr was among the stars honoured at the National Television Awards 2026, held at The O2 Arena in London. The comedian received the special recognition award during the ceremony, which also saw Sir David Attenborough win the TV presenter category.
Host and nominees
Comedian Joel Dommett returned to host the annual ceremony, which brought together actors, reality stars and the talent behind some of the nation's favourite TV dramas for an evening of celebration. The event marked a groundbreaking 12 months in television, including Sir David Attenborough's 100th birthday, a thrilling Race Across the World finale, a gripping Corriedale crossover episode and major changes ahead for Strictly Come Dancing.
There were 15 awards up for grabs, covering categories such as best TV presenter, best comedy, best drama performance and best authored documentary. The BBC documentary Our Girls: The Southport Families won the award for best authored documentary.
Red carpet arrivals
Speaking to the ECHO on the red carpet, Alan Carr said: "I'm super excited to be here, I'm nominated in three categories for Last One Laughing, Celebrity Traitors and my sitcom Changing Ends." Coronation Street star Sue Devaney also spoke about her nomination for best serial drama performance, saying: "It's amazing, it's an honour really. It's nice to get all glammed up and come out with my friends."
Kelvin Fletcher, nominated in the reality docuseries category, told the ECHO: "It's great to be here off the farm and all dolled up." Other attendees included Amanda Holden, Lisa Riley, Dermot O'Leary, Alison Hammond and Katie Price, with a photo gallery showcasing the best red carpet looks from the evening.
