Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes are reportedly preparing for a major court battle over their divorce settlement, as efforts to resolve the matter privately have stalled. The television presenters, both 66, ended their marriage more than two years ago after over a decade together.
Relationship Timeline
The former couple married in 2010 after dating since 1997. They share a son, Jack, now 24. They announced their separation in 2024 after 27 years together.
Legal Proceedings
According to reports, Ruth has initiated legal proceedings for a financial remedy after the pair failed to reach an agreement. Court records list the case as Ruth Holmes vs Eamonn Holmes. The dispute centres on dividing assets worth around £10 million, including their Surrey home, purchased for £3.6 million over a decade ago.
A court review is scheduled in coming months, with a full hearing expected later this year.
Personal Statements
An insider said: "A lengthy court battle is the last thing the couple wanted, but they just can't agree. It's very sad but they are both prepared to fight for what they feel is rightfully theirs."
Since the split, Eamonn has begun a relationship with therapist Katie Alexander, 23 years his junior. Ruth has remained single, focusing on her career and family.
Speaking to the Mirror, Ruth said: "I've always been a very independent woman, that hasn't really changed. But this is where I found myself, and I just have to get on with my life and make my own happiness and keep my career going, and look out for my son, that's what I'm doing."
She added: "Life changes, life can change from one second to the next, one hour to the next, one day to the next. Nobody knows what's going to happen in their life, but here I am, and I'm doing all right. They say time is a great healer, and that always sounds like a bit of a cliche, but I really believe it is."
