Piers Morgan Reignites Feud with Alex Beresford Five Years After GMB Exit
Piers Morgan Reignites Alex Beresford Feud Five Years On

Piers Morgan has reignited his long-standing feud with former Good Morning Britain co-star Alex Beresford, five years after dramatically walking away from the ITV show. In an episode of his YouTube show, Piers Morgan Uncensored, Morgan took a swipe at Beresford, saying: "I don't see the weather guy very often. I would cross continents to avoid him."

The Original Clash

The pair famously clashed on Good Morning Britain in March 2021 following a discussion about Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. Morgan had accused the Duchess of lying when she claimed that Buckingham Palace officials allegedly rejected her pleas for help while she was battling suicidal thoughts. Beresford, who has a white mother and a father with Guyanese heritage, called Morgan's behaviour "absolutely diabolical."

During the heated exchange, Beresford defended the Duchess, stating: "She's entitled to cut you off if she wants to." He also addressed the Sussexes' interview with Oprah and their decision to leave the UK, saying: "They've had an overwhelming amount of negative press."

Morgan's Walkout

Morgan, visibly furious, stood up and said: "OK, I'm done with this, Sorry, no... Sorry, can't do this," before walking off set. He was absent from the live broadcast for 20 minutes but later returned, hitting out at Beresford for launching a "personal derogatory attack."

The Duchess made a formal complaint to ITV, and Morgan was informed he needed to apologise for his comments. He refused and subsequently quit his job on the programme. His comments attracted 41,000 complaints to broadcasting watchdog Ofcom.

Five Years On

Addressing his time on the show in his YouTube episode, Morgan said: "You become part of a family. I see all my old – well, nearly all my old – Good Morning Britain colleagues. I don't see the weather guy very often. I would cross continents to avoid him. But the others, I do still see a lot of. You do become very close, actually."

Morgan had previously claimed that Meghan "cut him off" when she started dating Prince Harry in July 2016, despite them being friends before. Beresford responded at the time: "I hear Piers say William has gone through the same thing but, do you know what, siblings experience tragedy in their life and one will be absolutely fine and brush it off. And the other will not be able to deal with it so strongly and that is clearly what has happened with Harry in this situation."
