National Trust Walk Near Liverpool with Cake at End

A travel content creator has highlighted a 'pretty walk' around 45 minutes from Liverpool that is operated by the National Trust and offers excellent coffee and cakes at the end.

Wizard's Wander: A Scenic Route

Known as the Wizard's Wander, the walk takes around 45 minutes to an hour to complete at a steady pace and is a 'mostly flat' circular route, according to Danielle's TikTok clip. She described it as 'easy' and said it rewards walkers with the 'cutest coffee and cake hatch' at the end.

Family and Dog Friendly

Danielle enthused: 'The Wizard’s Wander at Alderley Edge was such a lovely family (and dog) friendly walk with a sweet treat waiting for you at the end! Is there anything better?!'

Route Details from National Trust

The National Trust advises visitors to start near the picnic area close to the Wizard Tea-room. Then turn left into the woods and follow the surfaced path gently uphill to the Engine Vein. Continue past signs of old mine shafts to the Armada Beacon, where the Druids' Circle is about 200m to the right. The path emerges from the trees onto the bare rock of Stormy Point, with the Devil's Grave nearby. Head away from Stormy Point on Carriage Drive, and halfway down take an optional detour to the Canyon Mine. Near the end, look for Carriage Drive again, turn right, and where it meets a farm road, find the Goldenstone. Then turn back to return via the farm track to Macclesfield Road and the car park.

Sweet Treat at the End

Danielle added: 'The Wizard’s Tea-room is by the car park and they do lovely breakfast butty’s, cakes, hot drinks and so much more! It was such a great way to spend our Sunday and you could even head into Alderley Edge, Knutsford or Wilmslow afterwards!'

Visitor Tips

In response to a TikTok user asking about train access, Danielle noted that the edge is about a 25-minute walk from Alderley Edge station. Another user commented: 'I read "The Weirdstone of Brisingamen" as a child. This feels like a must visit now!'
