Klopp Reunites with Liverpool Coaches for Germany Role

Jurgen Klopp is set to be reunited with two former Liverpool coaches following his expected appointment as Germany head coach. The 59-year-old is reportedly to be officially confirmed as his country's manager imminently.

Backroom Staff Decisions

Klopp has been making key decisions regarding the backroom staff he wants alongside him at the DFB, ahead of his formal announcement. Sky Germany claims that both Pep Lijnders and Peter Krawietz are expected to join Klopp's coaching setup, having worked closely alongside him throughout his tenure at Liverpool.

Lijnders on Their Relationship

Reflecting on their relationship in 2020, Lijnders said: "There's a super dynamic between us. It's much more than just assistant and manager." He added: "I love working for him. He sees who I am, and respects that. We know what to expect from each other."

Lijnders has since forged a managerial career of his own, spending seven months in charge of Red Bull Salzburg before returning to the Premier League as an assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City — a role Klopp actively encouraged him to take on. Krawietz worked alongside Klopp at Liverpool until his exit in 2024. Sven Bender is also set to be confirmed as part of the newly-formed setup within the German national team.
