Steven Knight's Oasis documentary will have its world premiere at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival.
Don't Look Back In Anger, by the creator of Peaky Blinders, follows brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher as they undertake their Live '25 tour, which kicked off a year ago in Cardiff.
It will premiere at Venice alongside other films including Martin McDonagh's black comedy Wild Horse Nine, Florian Zeller's thriller Bunker, Werner Herzog's Bucking Fastard, and Danny Boyle's Ink.
The Oasis documentary was created by Knight and directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace.
Release and Streaming Details
Set to be released in cinemas on September 9, and also on Disney Plus, the streaming service has teased that the documentary follows the Gallaghers' “triumphant reunion tour”.
“Oasis Live '25, one of the most anticipated rock ‘n’ roll comebacks of our time,” it says.
“The film is an unapologetically uplifting account of the biggest musical event of 2025, capturing the experience and emotions of the band and their fans across the world.
“The unique perspective includes rehearsal, backstage, and onstage access as well as the first joint interviews with Noel and Liam in over 20 years.
“Alongside the band's sold-out world tour, the film also explores the profound emotional impact of this phenomenal global cultural moment and what their music means to audiences and generations worldwide.”
Knight said: “The Oasis world tour united generations, cultures and countries and spoke to a broken world about reconciliation.
“Don't Look Back In Anger is not only your ticket to the show – it's a backstage pass and a seat at the table when Liam and Noel sit down together for the first time in 15 years and tell it how it is and how it was.”
Noel Gallagher's Thoughts
Speaking backstage at the Brits in March, Noel said of the documentary: “I've only seen a tiny little bit of it and it's difficult to have an opinion on it because I'm only looking at little snippets.”
The Oasis reunion tour was announced in August 2024, 15 years after their dramatic split in 2009, which was prompted by a backstage brawl at the Rock en Seine festival in France.
The band have had eight number one singles and albums each in the UK charts, with Wonderwall, Champagne Supernova and Some Might Say among their most well-known hits.
The Venice International Film Festival will be held from September 2 to 12.
In the same month, Don't Look Back In Anger will open in select Imax cinemas, before streaming exclusively on Disney Plus internationally and on Hulu and Disney Plus in the US later this year.
