Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton has made a poignant visit to Jordan, where he personally assisted in packing aid destined for victims of the ongoing crisis in Gaza. The 41-year-old racing driver shared a powerful statement about his experience, emphasising the urgent need to 'end the suffering' and calling for sustained public support.
A Life-Changing Humanitarian Mission
During his trip, Hamilton toured a hospital and an aid packaging facility operated by humanitarian organisations, including the British Red Cross, Jordan Red Crescent, and the Palestine Red Crescent Societies. He was photographed visiting hospital wards, where he witnessed infant victims receiving critical care. Reflecting on the visit, Hamilton stated, 'The time I spent in Jordan visiting a hospital and aid packaging facility dedicated to helping people in Gaza was life changing.'
Resilience in the Face of Adversity
Contrary to expecting feelings of hopelessness, Hamilton said he was profoundly moved by the spirit of resilience he encountered. 'What resonated the most was the spirit of resilience and humanity,' he wrote. 'The spirit of the families fighting for their survival. The spirit of doctors working tirelessly to save them. The spirit of the teams doing everything they can to deliver aid.' He urged others to learn from this determination, noting that 'We would all benefit from their spirit of resilience and their determination to help those who need it.'
A Call to Action for Increased Aid and Awareness
Hamilton stressed that while help is possible, the current flow of aid is insufficient. 'Help is possible, ending this suffering is possible, but the trickle of aid currently reaching Gaza is nowhere near enough,' he asserted. He called for humanitarian organisations to be granted unimpeded access and appealed to the public to use their voices and donations. 'If you can, join me in donating to the British Red Cross or any of the incredible charities continuing to deliver care, dignity and hope to the people in Gaza and please, do not stop talking about this,' Hamilton implored.

The British Red Cross shared a video of Hamilton's visit, stating, 'Witnessing the human cost of this crisis is impossible to forget.' They highlighted the work of their teams in treating injuries and supporting people through harsh winter conditions, but warned that 'the trickle of aid reaching Gaza is nowhere near enough, and winter has only deepened the suffering.' The organisation echoed Hamilton's plea, emphasising, 'We must not stop talking about this continued and devastating crisis.'

Hamilton's visit coincides with reports from the UN World Food Programme, which noted a significant expansion of operations in Gaza, reaching over a million people monthly with food assistance. However, the situation remains extremely fragile. A recent analysis indicated that 77% of the population faces crisis-level food insecurity, with more than 100,000 people experiencing catastrophic hunger. Tragically, incidents of violence continue, such as the reported killing of a Palestinian teenager in southern Gaza, underscoring the ongoing peril.
