During high-level talks in Jamaica, Caribbean Community (CARICOM) leaders endorsed Haiti's recently formed transitional presidential council. This political body carries the immense responsibility of steering the country toward its first elections since 2016 and addressing the devastating security situation that has brought normal life to a standstill.
The council's formation represents a glimmer of hope for Haitians who have endured months of escalating gang violence, political paralysis, and a deepening humanitarian emergency that has left millions facing food insecurity.
